Relationship Affirmations/Love affirmations are one of the many powerful ways to deliberately design the future of your relationship. Love affirmations/relationship affirmations can used to complement relationship creative visualization.

What are Affirmations?

An affirmation is a statement expressing a desired outcome that you say to yourself. It puts you in a frame of mind that assumes that your goals are achievable and possible. It keeps your mind focused on your outcome. When used repetitiously, it becomes firmly planted in your unconscious mind. Hence, eventually what you have affirmed for becomes a reality.

Keep the following points in mind when crafting affirmations

1) Phrase them as if they are occurring in the now.
For eg. If your outcome is to become a more confident person, a suitable affirmation might be: ‘I am becoming more and more confident. I am feeling better and better about myself’.

2) Phrase affirmations in terms of what you want rather than what you don’t want, a negation. For eg, ‘I am not a self-conscious person’ instead ‘I am becoming more and more confident, content and fulfilled’. The brain cannot evaluate ‘not self-conscious’ without thinking of being self-conscious. For instance, when someone tells you ‘Do not think of a pink elephant’ What are you thinking of next? Also do not say ‘I have no self-doubt’ You get reminded of having self-doubt.

3) Do not give affirmations specific deadlines, for instance, ‘In three months time I will become a more confident person.’ Firstly, it might take more than 3 months to achieve that. Secondly, your unconscious mind might not want to work on your goal for now.

4) Craft or pick affirmations to work on that resonate with you the most, at that particular point in time.

5) Remember, energy follows thought.

6) Many self help books recommend that affirmations are repeated out aloud hundreds of times each day. However, saying out loud has nowhere the same impact on your feelings and behaviors as hearing the same things inside your mind. If you are telling wonderful things on the outside, but hearing a critical, demoralizing voice on the inside telling you that you are fooling yourself, your internal voice's suggestions will win every time. To overcome this, it is best to do internal programming of affirmations at the alpha level of mind.

7) Affirmations are most powerful when combined with visualizations, in a meditative alpha state of mind

How to use relationship affirmations/love affirmations

You can never heal relationships by talking and thinking about how awful it is. Love affirmations help heal your relationship by turning your thoughts away from the problems and help create new thoughts that will produce a solution.

Ways to use love affirmations effectively

- Meditation. Say affirmations to yourself silently while meditating or relaxing deeply, especially right before going to sleep or right after waking up.

- Write them down. Take a particular affirmation and write it down ten or twenty times in succession, really thinking about the words as you write them down.

- Recording and listening to them. Pick 3 affirmations at a time. Record and listen to them once a day. Affirmations recordings overlapped with binaural frequencies can be very effective in embedding the suggestions deep in your subconscious mind. Record in both first person ("I am getting better and better everyday") and third person ("Mary, you are a beautiful lady", "Mary is a beautiful lady").

- Singing and Chanting. make a point of learning songs that express deep feelings for you or that affirm the reality you would like to create for yourself; listen to them and sing them often. Make up your own songs or simple chants using the affirmations you want to work with.

- Most importantly say it sincerely and say it with conviction.

Love/Relationship Meditation

Love Meditation - Unconditional Love/Compassion/Loving-kindness Meditation

Purpose: This meditation assists in developing our ability to love our spouse/partner unconditionally.

  1. Assume a comfortable position, relax and breathe deeply.

  2. First focus on all of the people and things in your life you love. Include  whatever/whomever you love eg partner when you first met them, pets, hobbies, favorite restaurants, music, movies, Spirit and so on. Select objects, events or people that you most resonate with. Magnify this feeling of total love.

  3. Now bring into this picture your spouse/partner as he/she is at the moment. Concentrate for a moment on your desire to be able to love your spouse or partner in the same manner as the first group.

  4. Create a feeling of love in your heart for your spouse/partner. This feeling of love may be visualized as a radiating bright white or gold light of pure and positive energy emanating from your heart.

  5. Accept your spouse/partner in this scene for who he/she is, with each of their faults as well as good points. Radiate out from your heart this bright light so that it both touches and surrounds every component of this scene.

  6. Say to your partner,

May you live in safety.
May you have mental happiness (peace, joy).
May you have physical happiness (health, freedom from  pain).
May you live with ease. (May the elements of daily life—work, family—go easily, not be a struggle.)
May my love become yours.
May you be fulfilled in all your desires.
May you be blessed.
May the light of Source/Spirit fill you.

Continue sending out this loving light and observe its effects on your spouse/partner. See how he/she is is transformed into a loving entity. Notice how the things you disliked before all of a sudden does not seem to affect you as much.

  1. Contemplate how you now have the potential to love your spouse/partner unconditionally for all his/her good points, as well as imperfections. Dedicate your consciousness to remove any aspect of your personality, such as impatience, anger, jealousy, insecurity, and so on, that stands in the way of this unconditional love. See each of them as physical blocks being removed from your energy field, as you affirm to yourself the following

    I now release all forms of impatience within me. I am becoming more and more patient.

    I now release all forms of anger and resentment towards my spouse/partner. I am becoming more and more forgiving and loving.

    I now release all forms of jealousy and insecurity in my relationships. I am becoming more and more secure and confident.

Visualize yourself as having taken on the positive traits you have affirmed for. Stay with this goal for a few minutes.

Love Meditation - Loving Relationship Connection Meditation

Purpose: Soul linking is a way to awaken your heart centers and express soul love or love from the level of your Higher Self to others. It is an important skill, one that you can use to evolve your relationships. Soul linking is a way of radiating love to people. Radiating love may feel as if you are "sending" love to others. However, you are not really sending love. Reception happens instantaneously through the principle of resonance. You might have experienced this when you were around someone who was happy, and suddenly you chose to feel happier yourself. The other person did not send you happiness; instead you began to resonate with this person's vibration of happiness.

1.   Close your eyes for a moment, and invite your spouse/partner into your meditation. You can soul link to evolve a relationship with someone special such as your spouse/partner, or with someone you have not yet met, such as a soul mate. Souls can link across time and space. 

2.   Imagine that your spouse/partner is in front of you. Let the image of your partner/spouse's body fade until you can picture his/her heart center as radiant light. 

3.   Connect to your Higher Self. Visualize your Higher Self descending through the crown of your head and completely merging with you. Your Higher Self may appear to you as bright white light or it may appear as a perfect replica of yourself etc. 

4.   Observe as your heart center aligns with that of your Higher Self, at the position of your physical heart. With this alignment, you might imagine beautiful, sparkling, shimmering, diamond-like light radiating from your heart center. Picture a ray of light coming out from your heart center and touching your partner's/spouse's heart center. You can use any image that feels right to you.

Some people imagine a ray of light connecting their heart centers. Some perceive a cord, filament, or narrow or wide band of light, or shimmering rays of light flowing out from their heart center to another person's heart center. You may detect ray after ray of light coming from your heart center out to the other person's heart center, or a steady beam. You may simply sense that your heart center is becoming so bright that the light coming out from it touches the other person's heart center. What is important is a sense of a connection between your two heart centers. I am using the image of a line of light as a symbol for a heart connection. Choose any picture or image that works for you to remind you to connect heart-to-heart when you are with your spouse/partner. And, it is fine if you do not use any image. Just sensing or having the intention to make a heart connection is all that is important for this first step of soul linking.

5.   The second important element of soul linking is to become aware of your soul and your partner/spouse's as you make a heart connection. As you do, you strengthen your connection to your own soul. You become aware that you have a soul connection to others that is even more important than your personality/ego relationship with them. When you connect with other people's souls, it is easier to do those things that honor their soul/Higher Self instead of being influenced by their personality/ego desires.

      Make a heart connection once again with your partner/spouse. Discover anything you can about how you sense your partner/spouse's soul. You may experience your partner/spouse's soul in various ways. You may feel more love, compassion, or peace as you connect with his/her soul. You may have a stronger experience of your own soul. You may notice more light. Detect everything you can about your soul connection and how it is different from your personality/ego connection. Allow your personality/ego issues to drop away and appreciate the light and beauty of your partner/spouse's soul. It is fine if you do not sense anything. The intention to connect with the other person's soul is all that is necessary for a soul connection to occur.  

6.   The final step of soul linking is to picture the Solar Light above both of you as you make a line of light between your heart centers. This brings the highest love and the light of oneness to your relationship. It connects both of you in higher purpose. It adds Solar Light to your interactions with each other, bringing more harmony, beauty, balance, and clarity to your relationship. Every moment you focus on Solar Light expands the potential for love between you. Thinking of the Solar Light above both of you as you soul link makes it easier to experience your soul and to radiate soul love.  

      Make a line of light between your heart center and the heart center of your partner/spouse. Note the Solar Light above both of you. Watch as a ray of light comes down from the Solar light, descending through your head center into your heart center, then moving out to your partner/spouse's heart center through your heart connection. Solar Light descends through partner/spouse's head center to the heart center, and then
out to your heart center.  

7.   You have formed a triangle of light between you and your partner/spouse. Solar Light is at the top of the triangle. The base of the triangle is the line of light between your heart centers. Solar Light is circulating through this triangle.  

      Although I have used the Solar Light as the higher light guiding your relationship, you may use any higher light that works for you. This could be a star, a high Being such as an  angel, Being of Light, Master, God, the Goddess, the All-That-Is, and so on. What is most important is that you are aware of a light that is higher than both of your souls, guiding you as you make a soul connection. The Solar Light harmonizes, balances, lifts the energies between you, and draws your attention upward to the light. You may want to work first with the image of the Solar Light above both of you, and later try other types of light to guide your relationship as you soul link.  

8.   As you soul link, you can evolve your relationships by inviting the Being of Love into your heart center. You can ask for this Being to be present to assist you in feeling or acting more loving. The Being of Love can assist you if you are in difficult situations, or need strength or courage to love-as your soul/Higher Self.

      Soul link with your partner/spouse again. Make a line of light between your heart centers, connect with the your partner/spouse's soul, and imagine the Solar Light above both of you. Invite the Being of Love into your heart center. Notice any changes as you do this. Imagine yourself loving, thinking, and acting as the Being of Love. Ask yourself, "How would I, as a Being of Love, express soul love to this person, who is my partner/spouse?" Let the Being of Love stimulate your ability to love with tenderness, wisdom, and compassion. You do what is loving and wise, not to comfort your partner/spouse's personality/ego or your own, but to empower them to grow and evolve spiritually - basically do what is in their highest and greatest good. 

Love Meditation -Tips on Soul Linking with your partner/spouse

  • You can intensify your broadcast of soul love with your partner/spouse in several ways. You can intensify your broadcast of love by feeling the quality of love you are radiating as completely as you can as you soul link. In addition, you can increase your radiance of love by emanating different qualities of light from your heart center to the other person's heart center. For instance, broadcast a smooth, reassuring, soft light through your heart center. Add a rose color. Make your heart light brilliant, or experiment
    with a pulsating light. As you increase the love you are radiating, you may sense a feeling of spiraling up—feeling more joy, light, and love. This is one reward of soul linking.
  • Do not look for specific outcomes or results to know if your soul linking is working. You cannot anticipate results, when they will come, or what form they will come in. Simply soul link and leave the results to Source and the Universe.

Love Meditation - To be done with a partner

Purpose: Maintaining love with your partner or children. It's is a beautiful way to nourish the heart centers and to restore peace.

1. Sit opposite each other, with a candle between you.

2. When you both feel relaxed and comfortable, send loving energies to each other (simply think warm, loving feelings about the other person).

3. Remember that this energy is unconditional; it is not sexual.

4. Imagine that you can see the energy flowing between you in a figure-of-eight movement between your heart centers.

1. Sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes, and breathe deeply, slowly, and naturally. Gradually relax deeper and deeper.

2. Imagine the type of relationship that you would like to manifest. Imagine that it has already happened. Picture it as clearly as possible in your mind.

3. Now, in your mind's eye, surround your fantasy with a pink bubble; put your goal inside the bubble. Pink is the color associated with the heart, and if this color vibration surrounds whatever you visualize, it will bring to you only that which is in perfect affinity with your being.

4. The fourth step is to let go of the bubble and imagine it floating off into the universe, still containing your vision. This symbolizes that you are emotionally "letting go" of it. Now it is free to float around in the universe, attracting and gathering energy for its manifestation.

How to Perform Self Hypnosis

Self-Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind which can be defined as a heightened state of focused concentration, (trance), with the willingness to follow instructions (suggestibility).

Steps

  1. Go to a comfortable, private place and sit in any comfortable chair or couch. Although some people prefer to lie down, you are more susceptible to sleep than when sitting up. Whether you sit or lie, ensure you do not cross your legs or any part if your body. You may be in this position for a while and this could end up being uncomfortable.
  2. Make sure you are not going to be disturbed for at least half an hour.
  3. Close your eyes and try to rid your mind of any feelings of fear, stress, or anxiety. When you begin, you will find it difficult not to think. You may find that thoughts keep intruding. When this happens, don't try to force the thoughts out. Observe them impartially, and then let them slip away.
  4. Recognize the tension in your body. Beginning with your toes, imagine the tension slowly falling away from your body and vanishing. Imagine it freeing each body part one at a time starting with your toes and working its way up your body. Visualize each part of your body becoming lighter and lighter as the tension is removed. relax your toes, then your feet. Continue with your calves, thighs, hips, stomach and so on, until you've relaxed each portion, including your face and head. Using imagery techniques of something you find comforting or soothing, such as water(feel the water rushing over your feet and ankles, cleansing them of tension)can be effective as well.
  5. Take slow, deep breaths. When you exhale, see the tension and negativity leaving in a dark cloud. As you inhale, see the air returning as a bright force filled with life and energy.
  6. Appreciate the fact that you are now extremely relaxed. Imagine you are at the top of a flight of 10 stairs. Picture every detail of this scene from the top to the bottom. Tell yourself that you are going to descend the stairs, counting each step down, starting at 10. Picture each number in your mind. Imagine that each number you count is further down and one step closer to the bottom. After each number, you will feel yourself drifting further and further into deep relaxation. As you take each step, imagine the feel of the step under your feet. Keep counting and stepping down until you reach the bottom. Once you reach the bottom imagine that you are happy and relaxed. Consider rolling your eyes gently back into your head. It can induce a trance rather well.
  7. At this point, you should begin to address the issue you're concerned about. Speak in the present tense. Your subconscious mind does not understand negatives in speech - avoid using statements with negative connotation such as "I don't want to be tired and irritable." Instead, say, "I am calm and relaxed." Examples of positive statements "I am strong and slender," "I am successful and positive," and, if you have pain, "My back feels wonderful."   8. Repeat your statement(s) to yourself as many times as you wish.
  9. When you are satisfied, say to yourself that you will now count upwards from 0 to 10, and when you reach the number 10, you will slowly rise back to normal consciousness and remain calm and relaxed. Proceed to count upwards, again picturing the numbers in detail.
  10. Once you have ascended, give yourself a few moments before opening your eyes, and take your time getting up.

 

Tips

  • Have an idea of how you will present your suggestions to yourself before you lie down and are relaxed, otherwise it may interrupt your hypnotic state.
  • Writing out your suggestions before induction can be very effective, as a visual list of what you choose to work on can sometimes be more easily remembered than even carefully assembled thoughts.
  • Try different techniques to see what works best for you.
  • Another way to relax your muscles is to physically tense and hold for ten seconds before releasing; you should feel as well as imagine the tension leaving.
  • Some find that imagining yourself in a peaceful natural setting will relax your mind sufficiently before counting down. For instance, you may imagine yourself wandering through a forest, smelling the trees and hearing the wind. Alternatively, you could imagine yourself walking along the ocean shore and feel the grit of the sand beneath your feet, the cool water washing against your ankles and sounds of the surf.
  • If you can't sleep, after you count down from ten (or go down your staircase), allow your mind to remain in this pleasantly relaxed state and keep your eyes closed while you are lying down and you will sleep much easier.
  • For those of you who like to meditate but can't sit still long enough, just use this as a form of meditation but insert a period of time in between counting down from ten and counting back up to ten.
  • It is impossible to gauge your own depth of hypnosis. Hypnosis is naturally occurring and easy to achieve. Trust that you have reached a state of hypnosis; you probably have!
  • If you are certain you cannot hypnotize yourself, you may wish to Use Sound for Therapy. Several sound programs that you can download can assist in altering brain state.
  • It often helps to go to a professional, licensed hypnotherapist for a session first, to see what it feels like. I find that a common trait of a trance is a deeply relaxed feeling, coupled with a tingling all over my body (predominantly in my hands and feet).
  • If you are struggling try visiting a hypnotherapist or buying a recording in order to experience hypnosis. When you have experienced it once or twice you will better know the state of mind you are aiming to achieve.
  • "The Idiot's Guide to Hypnosis" by Dr. Roberta Thames is a great book and has a wonderful section on safe self-Hypnosis.

 

 Warnings

  • Self hypnosis may not be sufficient to address all issues. If you do not get the results you desire, it does not mean you weren't in hypnosis. It just might mean you need some extra help.
  • Be careful when rising if you've been lying down. Getting up too quickly could cause your blood pressure to plummet, and you could easily become dizzy or pass out. (This has nothing to do with hypnosis, per se, but with the mechanics of being horizontal for a while.)
  • As always, if you have a condition that requires medical attention, speak with your doctor or therapist before starting anything new. Self-hypnosis is not an alternative to your doctor's advice.
  • If you find that this therapy has helped you enough where you feel you no longer need medication, do not stop taking your medication without speaking to your doctor.
  • DO NOT try to uncover old memories using self-hypnosis. This is better left to a professional, as it can very easily cause further problems.
  • DO NOT use commands that remove pain, or if you do, add a disclaimer at the end, such as: "My back feels wonderful and all the pain will be temporarily gone until the condition is healed or the condition worsens." If you have pain somewhere, IT'S FOR A REASON and if you take the pain away, you may end up hurting yourself further or causing permanent damage without even knowing it!

 

  Things You'll Need
  • A comfortable place to sit or lie down. Subdued lighting and the correct room temperature.
  • A quiet environment where you will not be disturbed for at least half an hour.
  • The ability to count to ten backwards and forwards.
  • A willingness to follow your own instructions.
  • A previous hypnotic experience either by a hypnotherapist, or a recording in order to know what state you are trying to achieve.
